Just Do the Work – Your Marketing “Murph”
On Memorial Day, I did a workout called “The Murph” at my gym.
The Murph is an intense workout that commemorates Lieutenant Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL who died in Afghanistan in 2005. Murphy was awarded the Medal of Honor and the Purple Heart posthumously.
Quite a story! Lieutenant Michael Murphy.
#CrossFit gyms (or boxes), nationally, honor Michael Murphy every year on Memorial Day by doing his favorite workout, which consists of running a mile, doing 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and then running another mile (20-pound weight vest optional).
I had the pleasure this year to do The Murph with my daughter Jessica!
And yes, we survived the workout.
The Marketing Lesson Behind the Workout
Imagine what would happen if we all applied this intense “give it your all for an hour” approach to our marketing and business networking? It may not be in the form of running and plyometric movements but rather an intentional, targeted outreach to prospects, referral partners, and clients. And not once a year but every workday.
Your Daily Business Workout
Here’s an example of a “workout” that you might complete in an hour:
ONE check in with a Client.
TWO follow-up emails to Prospects.
THREE comments to posts of 3 connections you follow on LinkedIn.
FOUR reconnects with past Clients.
FIVE outreaches on LinkedIn with potential Referral Partners.
Consistency Changes Everything
Work this type of business routine into the first hour of your morning for the month of June and see what happens.
Well, what do you think could happen?
Before long, you might get more prospects, more referrals, and more business. More importantly, you may get better control of your marketing and networking routine. Better routine, better results.
Make It a Habit
Easy lift if you schedule and block the time at the same time, every workday. 20-pound vest, optional.
Military personnel and Veterans, thank you for your service.
