Send Personal Gifts to Say Thank You

The more personal you can make a gift, the more powerful it will be. For example, I have a client who is a bulldog breeder, so I sent him a bulldog coffee-table book and a statue of a bulldog as a thank-you gift. He keeps both in his office.

Another creative idea is to make something yourself – if you’re creative and you have that kind of time. I know someone who makes wine. They distill and bottle the wine and put personalized labels on the bottles. Their way of saying thank you is to give someone a bottle of wine with a personalized label and a quote or something about them.

Naturally, tickets to a client’s favorite baseball team, golf balls with the insignia of their model car, and donations to their favorite charities are also nice touches.

I frequently send books (like Knock Out Networking for Financial Advisors!) or videos (usually a classic movie about sales reps like Glengarry Glen Ross or The Boiler Room), or something having to do with someone’s favorite activity (such as yoga, horseback riding, sporting events) to people I know would appreciate them.

These are quick and fun ways to send personal gifts and say thank you to those that provide you with introductions and referrals.

Your clients and other referral sources will appreciate the gesture and it will remind them of you!
